Packet AND Chip Pick-up is RACE DAY MORNING!
RACE DAY INFORMATION/INSTRUCTIONS
Check-In OPENS at 5:45 AM and CLOSES promptly at 7:10 AM. Arrive at the race site NO LATER than 6:35AM as it will take approximately 10 minutes to walk from your car to the Check-In tables.
You will need picture ID to check in – we recommend you bring a photocopy of your ID as opposed to the original.
Rack your bike first then proceed to the Check-In table corresponding to YOUR LAST NAME!
Race Chips will be distributed RACE DAY morning at check in.
Once you have checked in and received your race chip – Triathletes proceed to line to be body marked. Duathletes have free time till start of race.
TRIATHLON/DUATHLON RACE BEGINS AT 7:40 AM

AS PER NORTH HEMPSTEAD TOWN RULES – NO PETS ARE ALLOWED AT THE RACE SITE.
ALSO – ONCE THE BIKE COURSE IS OPEN – NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO CROSS IT. THIS INCLUDES ALL SPECTATORS WHO HAVE ARRIVED AFTER THE BIKE COURSE HAS OPENED.
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED RACING AND ARE HEADED TO YOUR CARS, PLEASE BE COURTEOUS TO THOSE STILL RACING. KEEP TO ONE SIDE AS YOU WALK TO YOUR CARS.
BIKE AREA INSTRUCTIONS
**BIKE RACK AREA WILL HAVE SECURITY PRESENT
Entry to competitors only. “OFF LIMITS” to non-competitors. Bicycles not put on assigned racks corresponding to race numbers will be penalized. NO cycling in the bike rack area. Competitors who cycle past the “DISMOUNT” area at the entrance to the bike rack area will be penalized. Bikes and equipment may be removed by competitors ONLY upon the showing of the large run number and bike number to security. Friends and family members will not be allowed to remove bikes.
Helmet must be strapped on before going out on road. Riding without a helmet will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification.

West Shore Road to Seaview Boulevard to Harbor Park Drive to West Shore Road
THERE ARE TWO SHARP TURNAROUNDS – ONE JUST NORTH OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD BEACH PARK AND ONE ON SEAVIEW BOULEVARD – SLOW DOWN WHEN APPROACHING THESE TURNS!
WARNING! YOU WILL COMPLETE TWO LOOPS OF THE BIKE COURSE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROPERLY EXIT THE COURSE AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE SECOND LOOP!
Approved Helmets are MANDATORY – see the rules section for proper helmet
Helmet must be properly positioned, and snapped on securely, BEFORE leaving transition area.
No drafting permitted. Violators risk penalty or disqualification. There will be draft marshalls monitoring the course. If another competitor is drafting, a proven remedy is to yell to him/her “STOP DRAFTING”! Shout loud enough so that other competitors can hear and assist you, witness the violation and record the number. If you wish to file an official complaint regarding “drafters”, you MUST record their race number. A competitor who has THREE “drafting reports” filed by fellow competitors will automatically receive a FOUR minute penalty.
CONE DIRECTIONAL SYSTEM – All turns on the bike course are marked by 6 -8 small CONES. FOLLOWING THEM IS ESSENTIAL TO STAYING ON THE COURSE. If in doubt at any intersection, always follow the direction of the cones. Do not expect volunteers, marshals and/or police personnel to point you in the right direction.
BIKE COURSE WILL BE REOPENED TO TRAFFIC AT 10:00AM. ANY CYCLIST REMAINING ON THE COURSE AFTER THIS TIME WILL BE PULLED OFF.
Follow posted signs/cones/race officials for directions.
Markers will be placed on the route designating each mile.
NOTE: THE 2 MILE MARKER IS PART OF THE 2ND LOOP
NO IPODS OR PORTABLE MUSIC PLAYERS!
Duathlon will start at 7:40 AM at the “Run Out” of the Bike Rack Area (Go to sign saying “Run Out”)
